Removing difficulties in site clearance for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 11, the Government Office held an online conference to review the progress of site clearance for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee directed the conference. Attending the conference were Comrade Dinh La Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport; leaders of central ministries, departments and branches. At Nghe An bridge, attending the conference were representatives of leaders of departments, branches and People's Committees of districts, cities and towns where the project passes through.

At the conference, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang reported on the status of site clearance for the investment project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A. Accordingly, the National Highway 1 expansion project from Thanh Hoa to Can Tho has a total length of 1,343 km, invested from many different sources of capital; divided into 40 projects, sub-projects, invested in many forms.

The project to expand and upgrade National Highway 1 through Nghe An has a total length of more than 73km, divided into 6 small projects, assigned to 5 investors. Up to now, 50.3km of land has been handed over, reaching 68%, and resettlement has been arranged for 16/214 households.

Speaking at the conference, the Provincial People's Committee committed to promptly handing over the site for the section passing through agricultural land and cleared land before December 31, 2013, the section without resettlement problems will be completed before January 15, 2014; for the sections with resettlement problems and other problems, it will be handed over before April 30, 2014 for project construction.

To resolve the difficulties, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Finance to advance capital for site clearance according to the approved master plan; the Government, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to support capital for the construction of resettlement areas; and directed managers to speed up the progress of relocating public works outside the Project's site clearance area.

Concluding the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that site clearance work is an extremely important task, greatly affecting the construction progress and completion of the project. Many provinces have actively carried out construction, mobilizing the entire local political system to participate in the implementation. He praised the provinces that have done well such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Thua Thien Hue. To speed up the project progress, the Deputy Prime Minister requested localities to actively implement site clearance work, mobilizing the entire political system to participate. In particular, localities that are still slow in site clearance work need to regularly inspect and urge to remove difficulties to speed up the progress.
