Lighting up faith for orphans

(Baonghean)- Each child has a different fate, many children are unlucky enough to live as orphans. The lack of love has gradually formed similar personalities in them: pessimism, inferiority complex, obsession with living in an incomplete family. Many children have overcome pain and unhappiness to reach out to realize their dreams, becoming useful people for society.

Hai chị em Hằng, Lường vượt qua hoàn cảnh học tập tốt.
Two sisters Hang and Luong overcame their circumstances to study well.

Sliding into inferiority complex

Born in 1993 in Khe Nan village, Chieu Luu commune (Ky Son), Lo Thi Diu lost her father when she was not yet 3 years old. Six years later, Diu's mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison for "illegally buying and selling drugs". Diu and her younger brother became orphans from that day. The day their mother went to prison, Diu and her sister were taken in by Lo Thi Thanh (her mother's younger sister). At the age of 16, hearing that many women in the village married Chinese men, were well-fed and well-dressed, had a rich life, and could send money back to their families, Lo Thi Diu proactively sought out Vi Thi Nam (living in the same village), and asked Nam to take her to China to get married, and Nam agreed. Across the border, Vi Thi Nam sold Diu to a foreign man for 30 million VND. Diu became a victim of child trafficking at the age of 16.

As for Pham Quoc Nam (Quynh Luu), he was born without a father. Like Nam's two older sisters, they had never seen their father's face. When Nam was 8 months old, his mother gave him to a family with few children in another locality to raise. Nam grew up in the arms of his adoptive parents, thinking that they were his blood relatives. From then on, Nam never saw his birth mother again. The secret was kept secret by adults until he was 14 years old. Hearing people whispering about the family's relationship, he was initially upset, but gradually became suspicious. Knowing that they could not hide the matter forever, Nam's adoptive parents told the truth.

Nam hated his adoptive parents because he thought they were liars, hated his biological mother for heartlessly abandoning his blood. Nam felt inferior because he thought he was just an illegitimate child that someone had taken care of. From then on, he often skipped school and ran away from home. At the age of 15, Nam was introduced to alcohol, cigarettes, hung out with street gangs and dropped out of school. Then Nam went on a wandering life, living here and there, the money he stole from his adoptive parents also gradually ran out. With no money to spend or drink, Nam earned money by stealing. Once, while stealing a motorbike from a stranger, Nam was discovered and arrested when he had just turned 16.

Love support

However, there are also many orphans who have overcome their circumstances and risen up in life. Like Ho Xuan Hai (born 2003), residing in Trung Dinh block, Hung Dung ward (Vinh city). We visited his house late one afternoon. The level 4 house is nestled in a small alley, Hai is busy helping his grandmother pick vegetables to prepare for dinner. Previously, Hai had a complete family in the true sense, but that family was missing half when he was 3 years old. In 2006, due to family conflicts, Hai's mother chose death by hanging herself. In 2011, his father passed away in a traffic accident on the way from Nam Dan to visit his family. Hai became an orphan. Since his parents passed away, Hai has been raised and cared for by his grandmother Hoang Thi Chau (60 years old). Loving his grandmother, Hai tries hard to study, obediently obeys her and teachers at school, and is always polite to everyone around him. Currently, Ho Xuan Hai is a 5th grade student at Truong Thi Primary School. Throughout his school years, Hai has always been an excellent student, loved by teachers and friends.

Mrs. Chau (Hai's grandmother) confided: "The family is short of people, only the two of us. Last year, because my health was getting worse and worse, I was afraid that when I passed away, there would be no one to take care of him, so I applied to send Hai to SOS Village (a school for orphans) and it was approved, but Hai refused with the reason: "If you go, when I get sick, who will get water for me? I let you stay at home so that when I get sick, I will have you by my side."

Like Hai, two sisters Nguyen Thi Hang (born in 2003) and Nguyen Canh Luong (born in 2005), residing in hamlet 13, Quynh Tan commune (Quynh Luu), still live day and night in the endless longing for their parents. The tragedy happened more than half a year ago, due to family conflicts, the father Nguyen Canh Linh cruelly took the life of his mother with cruel hammer blows. Nguyen Thi Hiep passed away, leaving two young children to be cared for by their nearly 60-year-old mother. The two sisters Hang had to face the pain of losing their mother and the shame of their father being in prison. But that did not stop the sisters from studying. Currently, Nguyen Thi Hang is a 5th grade student, Nguyen Canh Luong is a 3rd grade student at Quynh Tan A Primary School (Quynh Luu). For many years, Hang and Luong have always been excellent students of the class and of the school. That is also the only achievement that the two sisters have tried to achieve to fulfill their grandmother's wish.

In order for children with unfortunate fates to develop normally and integrate into life, first of all, departments and sectors need to pay attention and create suitable environments for them to develop healthily. In addition, sympathy and sharing from those around them is needed. Instead of discrimination, let's open our arms to help them overcome their unhappy childhood and become useful people.
