Strengthening solidarity between religions and developing the homeland economy
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 23, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ky Tan commune, Tan Ky district held a conference to summarize 5 years of implementing the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the period 2012-2017.
The Catholic community of Ky Tan commune has 205 households practicing religion in Quy Hau parish, Quy Hau diocese. In recent years, the parishioners have strived to develop the economy, and their material and spiritual life has been increasingly improved. The rate of well-off and rich households in 2012 was 26%, increasing to 33% in 2017.
Responding to the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", Catholics in Ky Tan commune donated more than 27,500 m2 of land, voluntarily dismantled more than 1,400 m of fences, participated in 705 working days and contributed more than 300 million VND to build rural traffic; consciously building happy and harmonious families. The rate of cultural families in 2012 was 49.7%, increasing to 52.2% in 2017.

In addition, the Pastoral Council and parishioners have actively participated in the movement “All people protect national security”, self-governing groups have promoted their role in ensuring national security, gradually pushing back crime and social evils. Charity work has also been regularly focused on to encourage, visit and share with families in difficult circumstances and those suffering from serious illnesses.
The conference also set out the direction from now until 2022, continuing to launch a patriotic emulation movement among Catholics, strengthening the building of great national unity on the basis of the nation's moral and cultural traditions, fighting against all divisive plots, and preserving the purity of the holy religion of God.
Along with that, strengthen coordination with departments, branches, organizations, parish pastoral councils, Quy Hau diocese to propagate and mobilize people to effectively implement the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas"; focusing on the criteria of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, economic development, cultural families, ensuring security and order.
