The first change in your body when you eat apples for a week
After eating apples every day for a week, the woman felt hydrated even without drinking much water, which helped her digest better and sleep better.
Beth Ann Mayer is a brand strategist and health and nutrition writer based in New York (USA). She has appeared in magazinesParents, Healthline, The Knot. She is also the co-founder of content company Lemonseed Creative.
Here's what Mayer shared about her experience eating apples every day for a week on Parade:
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I know apples are a good part of an overall healthy diet.
When I got an email from the editor asking if I would be willing to try the experience of eating oneappleevery day no, i accepted immediately.
After 7 days, I am still healthy, no runny nose. I also noticed other significant changes.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Not exactly, but apples do help keep you healthy. A study of more than 8,000 adults found no evidence that eating an apple a day reduced the number of visits to the doctor. However, participants were less likely to need prescription medications.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, apples contain many antioxidants such as quercetin, fiber that aids digestion, helps stabilize blood sugar, reduces cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, helps you feel full longer, and increases longevity.
First change
My body is more hydrated after eating apples.
Two weeks ago, I started a water challenge, drinking at least eight glasses a day. But then, over the holidays, I couldn’t keep up the habit. I felt sluggish and had heartburn, which affected my sleep.
In fact, you don’t need to drink eight glasses of water a day because water can also come from food. The Cleveland Clinic says apples are 85 percent water, so it’s no surprise that I feel less thirsty throughout the day and have less indigestion that disrupts my sleep at night.

Other changes
Stomach feels much better:Apples are high in fiber, which helps with digestion and reduces stomach aches and discomfort. Of course, it’s not just apples that help my stomach feel better, as I continue to eat a plant-based diet that’s low in sodium and sugar.
Reduce hunger:In the past, despite eating a lot on vacation, I quickly felt hungry after meals that included cookies and mashed potatoes. Experts agree that refined carbs and added sugars can cause rapid satiety and sudden hunger. Apples, which have natural sugars and fiber, can help people feel fuller for longer.
More energy:It may be a result of more stable blood sugar. Eating apples makes me less sluggish, giving me more energy for my morning workout and for the kids.
Will continue to eat lots of apples
I'm not sure if I'll continue eating an apple a day, but I'll add it to my regular fruit list. Apples are versatile, there are so many different varieties that you feel like you're having something different every day. There are also so many ways to eat apples: in smoothies, juices, salads, oatmeal, yogurt, baking...
Apples are also a busy person's dream. You can add them to quick recipes and they are also easy to carry.
