(Baonghean.vn) - Teachers making clips and organizing online classrooms are solutions that schools have come up with to cope with the long break caused by the nCoV acute respiratory infection.

Teachers' hearts during the epidemic season

Teacher Nguyen Van Khai is the first teacher at Que Phong High School to organize online classes for students after the provincial People's Committee decided to let students stay home from school due to the impact of the nCoV acute respiratory infection. Although the clip was not as crowded as many other entertainment clips, Mr. Khai was very satisfied because he received interactions from most of the students in the school he teaches. He also received many comments from some colleagues. Whether it was praise or criticism, Mr. Khai still saved it to see as an experience for himself.

Sharing about this, the teacher born in the 80s and with 15 years of teaching in the mountainous district of Que Phong said: Since last year, after watching videos of other colleagues online, I had the idea of making videos to teach online to students. Therefore, over the past year, I have tried it many times and practiced speaking so that when I put it on the video, it is easy for people to hear, then practiced making the videos.

Talking about his work, Mr. Khai also repeated many times that "I do it for the students, not for any business purpose". This also comes from the characteristics of the school in the mountainous area of Que Phong, where the students are mainly ethnic minorities, and economic conditions are still difficult. Students here mainly study at school, most of them do not have access to extra classes. Therefore, with online lectures, Mr. Khai hopes that students will have another channel of information to refer to. Mr. Khai also carefully selects lectures to suit the school's students.

Previously, at Que Phong High School, teacher Nguyen Van Khai was also one of the young teachers who was passionate about information technology and for many years he has always been the school's "pioneer" in applying information technology to teaching.

Talking more about the video editing of the lectures that he had just made during the complicated time of the nCoV acute respiratory infection epidemic, he added: When students were off school, I was very worried that they would be too busy playing and forget all their lessons. So I "closed the door" to make videos and then shared them online for students to follow. This was also the first time I had done it officially, so at first I was quite confused. Therefore, it took me nearly 15 minutes to get used to the camera and then I was comfortable teaching as if I was standing on the podium.

Through the videos that teacher Nguyen Van Khai shared online, it is easy to see that many videos have unclear images, some parts are still shaky and the frames are not accurate. Teacher Khai jokingly said: The entire video was "self-directed and self-performed" by me alone in the room. The camera is a personal phone with a tripod attached.

From Mr. Khai's work, some teachers at Que Phong High School have also begun to get acquainted and apply this form to teaching. Mr. Khai also added: Because of the nCoV epidemic, my plan was implemented earlier and I will continue to maintain it in the following years to focus on reviewing for students for the National High School Exam. I also find that online teaching is very meaningful because I can interact directly with students and they can save and review the lesson many times if they do not understand the lesson.

Teacher Nguyen Hong Tu - Vice Principal of Que Phong High School also added: After the Department of Education and Training gave instructions for students to stay home from school, the school also gave instructions to teachers on how to prepare homework for students and encouraged teachers to apply information technology and teach online during the epidemic season. And the work of Mr. Khai and some other teachers in the school, although small in scope, is very encouraging.

Applying information technology to support student learning

During the time when students are off school to prevent the nCoV acute respiratory infection, Phuong Hoang High School has also pioneered in organizing online teaching for all students of the school in the evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the supervision and support of parents.

Teacher Tran Van Phuong - Vice Principal of the school also shared: Before organizing online teaching, the school also organized training for teachers and trial classes. Through implementation, it was found that the implementation was quite favorable, teachers and students were also very interested. I also hope that this program will not only be implemented on special occasions but will also be implemented regularly to gradually change the time, habits, psychology, teaching and learning methods of both teachers and students and increase the companionship of parents with the school.

During the time students are off school, the Department of Education and Training has also issued a document requesting that schools assign teachers to be in charge of each area by block, hamlet, village, and commune to grasp the situation related to students, support and advise parents in child care, especially nutrition care, personal hygiene, and infection prevention at home and in the community.

The Department also directed schools to proactively have appropriate solutions to guide students to review their lessons at home, depending on specific conditions; encourage the application of information technology to guide students to review and do exercises via the internet and online learning systems to enhance students' self-study and research abilities; and have support plans to help students consolidate basic knowledge and skills when they return to school after a period of studying at home.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Head of Secondary Education Department - Department of Education and Training also said: During the time of epidemic prevention and control, to facilitate the exchange of lessons, we also encourage homeroom teachers and subject teachers in many different forms such as via email, social networking sites Zalo, Facebook... via Facetime, text messages, providing review materials.

At the same time, coordinate with parents to guide students to create a schedule to complete homework, review learned knowledge; read lessons in textbooks and study new lessons for the following week; proactively select and receive information from many different and flexible sources such as textbooks, reference books, the internet, etc. Regularly communicate with parents to understand students' health status and self-study at home.

In addition, it is necessary to guide students to send their homework results and self-study notes via email, Zalo and online learning systems... so that teachers can answer and help promptly.
