After the practice match between Vietnam Olympic and Dong Nai, Coach Miura became the focus of the media. The Japanese coach was closely "taken care of" by reporters, in which the question: "When will Vietnam Olympic finalize the list of 23 players to participate in the 2016 U23 Asian qualifiers?" was asked most often to Coach Miura.

In response to this question, Coach Miura revealed that because many players in the team were injured, the coaching staff needed to carefully consider before eliminating anyone. Accordingly, on March 19, just one day before leaving for Thailand for a friendly match, the Vietnam Olympic team will finalize the list.

However, after returning to the base camp and having dinner with the team, Coach Miura called a team meeting. Here, the 1963-born coach shared that he was extremely sorry for the many cases of players with good skills but unfortunately got injured, and at the same time encouraged them to continue to have high performance to be ready for the upcoming training session to prepare for the 28th SEA Games.

Unable to recover from a torn thigh injury, midfielder Thanh Tung had to leave the Vietnam Olympic team.

After the meeting, the team said goodbye to the “wounded soldiers” Thanh Tung, Hoang Lam, Tuan Tai, Phuc Tinh, and Hong Duy. These are the players who are seriously injured and will not be able to recover in time to participate in the 2016 U23 Asian qualifiers. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Van Tien, who unfortunately contracted chickenpox, is still being monitored and treated.

As for the injured players Thanh Hien, Tan Tai, Tien Dung, and Phuoc Tho, they were kept on the team so that doctors could monitor their recovery.

So, up to now, apart from the case of Xuan Truong who is being treated in Hanoi and is unlikely to recover in time to enter the tournament and the 5 cases who had to reluctantly say goodbye to the Vietnam Olympic team as mentioned above, the current number of players on the team is 27.

From now until the final list is finalized, Coach Miura will continue to monitor the injured players on the team to see who can recover quickly and then decide who to eliminate next.
