At this time, many places in the world, mainly in the Southern Hemisphere, have entered the New Year 2015 with brilliant fireworks displays. People in New Zealand and the Samoa, Kiribati, and Chatham Islands are the first in the world to welcome the Year of the Goat according to Eastern beliefs.
In New Zealand's capital Auckland, the giant clock on the Sky Tower counted down to midnight (11am GMT, 5pm Vietnam time) before fireworks lit up the sky.
Next is the New Year's Eve celebration in Australia, with fireworks shooting into the sky over Sydney Harbour, next to the famous opera house.
In Brazil, about 1 million people poured into Copacabana beach to welcome the New Year, and at Times Square in New York, thousands of people were already there to get a good spot to watch the crystal ball drop at the exact moment of New Year's Eve (11:00 Vietnam time on January 1, 2015).
