Accident scene

Among the passengers on the sleeper bus, there were 6 members of the family of Mr. Do Van Hung (31 years old), originally from Thanh Hoa, residing in Pleiku city. The youngest person was Nhu Y (8 months old), Mr. Hung's daughter, the oldest person was Mrs. Truong Thi Hat (65 years old), Mr. Hung's mother.

Baby Nhu Y fainted in the car after the accident, now her health is stable.

At Nghe An General Hospital, with a fairly severe leg injury, Do Van Hung has yet to regain his composure on the terrifying bus ride. Last week, 6 family members including his wife, daughter, mother and brother and his wife returned to their hometown after many years of working far away. On September 8, when the vacation in their hometown ended, the whole family took the Hung Thang sleeper bus to return to the Central Highlands. All 6 family members were arranged to sleep on the 2nd floor, with baby Nhu Y being held in the arms of her mother Duong Thi Tinh. When the bus reached Nghe An, it was pouring rain, and all 30 passengers were dozing.

“While I was sleeping, I heard a loud crash and screams, and I fell to the first floor. As a natural reflex, I looked up and saw the driver covered in blood, and everyone was panicking. My legs were in excruciating pain, I tried to run to where my wife and child had fallen on the first floor and saw that she had fainted. While trying to perform CPR, we quickly got out of the car to find a way to get to the hospital,” Mr. Hung anxiously recounted. About half an hour later, Mr. Hung’s family was taken to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment. There, Mr. Hung broke his leg, Nhu Y was transferred to the Children’s Hospital for treatment, and his mother, wife, and brother and his wife were all slightly injured. Currently, the whole family is in stable health.

In addition to Mr. Hung's family who took a taxi to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment, 6 other passengers were taken to Nghe An 115 Hospital. There, the patients were examined and their injuries checked. Fortunately, the patients only suffered minor injuries and on the night of September 8, everyone was discharged from the hospital.

Mr. Hung broke his leg in the accident.

Thus, the sleeper bus collision with a truck on Vinh bypass left 2 drivers dead and 12 passengers slightly injured. Immediately after the accident, Vinh City Police and Hung Nguyen District Police were present at the scene. Many local people, despite heavy rain and strong winds, rushed out onto the road, along with authorities, to rescue and protect the property of the victims.

Doctors were consulting and giving emergency treatment to patient Thanh, but the driver did not survive.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
