Two more Vietnamese records recognized as Asian records
On May 28, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) announced two more Vietnamese records recognized as Asian records: The longest Buddha statue entering nirvana on the roof of a pagoda in Asia at Hoi Khanh Pagoda, Binh Duong Province and the largest monolithic jade painting "Nine Dragons Fighting for a Pearl" made by Dung Tan Limited Liability Company.
On May 28, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) announced two more Vietnamese records recognized as Asian records: The longest Buddha statue entering nirvana on the roof of a pagoda in Asia at Hoi Khanh Pagoda, Binh Duong Province and the largest monolithic jade painting "Nine Dragons Fighting for a Pearl" made by Dung Tan Limited Liability Company.
“The longest Buddha statue in Asia on the roof of a pagoda” is 22.5m high from the ground, 11.8m from the floor to the shoulder, and weighs 620 tons. At the foot of the Buddha’s pedestal are 20 reliefs depicting the life of the Buddha from birth to Nirvana. The Buddha statue is surrounded by 840 lotus petals made of cement.
Previously, on March 30, 2010, the great statue of Buddha entering nirvana, with a length of 52m, also set a Vietnamese record as "The longest reclining Buddha statue in Vietnam".
The painting “Nine Dragons Competing for a Pearl” was made by Dung Tan Limited Company from a single block of Pakistani jade, consisting of 9 dragons. In the middle is a pearl, 1.83m high (including the 5cm recessed part in the wooden base), 2.1m wide, 35cm thick and weighing more than 2 tons. The painting vividly depicts the image of 9 Asian dragons winding in the clouds and competing for a pearl, representing sacred power, authority, prosperity and success.
Previously, there were 5 Vietnamese records that were recognized as Asian records, including 2 Asian records on Buddhism recognized by the Asian Record Organization: Maitreya Buddha statue on the largest mountain top in Asia (Phat Lon Pagoda, An Giang); Buddha statue entering Nirvana on the longest mountain top in Asia (Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda - Binh Thuan).
Three Vietnamese record holders in the Top 30 Asian record holders include: Meritorious Artist, Director Nguyen Van Luong - Director with the largest number of films about the country, people and islands in Asia; painter Truong Han Minh - watercolor painter with the largest number of paintings auctioned for charity; painter Dang Ai Viet - the person who painted the most portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers"./.
