A recent study by Baylor Heart and Blood Hospital (USA) published in The Journal of Nutrition showed that people who eat instant noodles, especially women, 1-3 times a week, have an increased risk of developing cardiovascular symptoms and diabetes.
Dr. Shin Joon and his colleagues conducted a study on the relationship between instant noodle consumption and health effects. The results of the study showed that instant noodles, like many other canned foods, have high salt content, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
In this study, Dr. Shin said, women are more likely to have health problems than men because of biological differences - sex hormones and metabolism between men and women.
However, he did not rule out the possibility that women tend to eat more noodles than men. "Another factor that affects gender differences is the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) used in product packaging. BPA interferes with hormones in the body, especially estrogen."
Dr Shin added: "This study is very meaningful because many people are consuming instant noodles without knowing the health risks. I hope that this study can lay the foundation for future research on the unknown harms of consuming too much instant noodles."
