From August 15, more overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia will be able to watch the foreign television channel (VTV4) of Vietnam Television.

On the morning of August 7, in Phnom Penh, representatives of Vietnam Television (VTV) signed an agreement with the Royal Cambodian Media Entertainment Company to bring VTV4 channel into Cambodia's digital terrestrial transmission system, which currently has coverage in more than two-thirds of Cambodia's territory. Thus, Vietnam Television's programs will reach a larger audience, especially the Vietnamese community living scattered throughout Cambodia.

Mr. Bach Ngoc Chien, Head of VTV4 said: “Our goal is to bring Vietnamese television programs to Vietnamese audiences living abroad in the most convenient viewing methods for them. Currently in Cambodia, digital transmission is becoming more and more popular, convenient for people's lives.

According to the current VTH satellite TV and cable TV still have some limitations, but digital TV, people living in Tonle Sap can still watch on their boats with digital receivers. We are very pleased with the signing of this agreement.

With this agreement, overseas Vietnamese and viewers in Cambodia can watch VTV4 through free digital terrestrial television packages, including free receivers and antennas.

The two sides also agreed that in the program, VTV4 channel will dedicate some time to broadcast in Khmer with the participation of Vietnam Television Center in Can Tho and some local stations such as Tra Vinh and Kien Giang.
