Experimental project to produce super pure peanut varieties
(Baonghean) - This winter crop, at Bac Thinh Agricultural Cooperative, Dien Thinh Commune, Dien Chau District, the North Central Institute of Science and Technology has launched a pilot project to produce G2 super-original peanut varieties - L20 peanut varieties in the period of 2011 - 2015 on 5 hectares of winter crop land. This is a pilot project to produce experimental peanut varieties, so during the production process, project beneficiaries must strictly comply with technical requirements: the production land must be cleared of weeds, fertilized with manure, NPK and lime before making ridges, spraying herbicides, covering with plastic and making holes for sowing seeds; seeds are sown one seed per hole, with a hole distance of 12 - 15 cm.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, a staff member of the Beans Department of the North Central Institute of Science and Technology, this is a process of producing experimental peanut varieties that is carried out in 3 stages from G0 - G1 and G2. After completing G2, the products are selected from each line that meets the requirements to become "super purebred" varieties to supply for mass peanut production on local fertile soil.
