Candidates need to choose their career wisely to avoid risks.
On August 1, universities and colleges began accepting applications and announcing their admission criteria. Admissions experts offer advice to avoid risks for candidates and schools.
Despite the warning of Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga that schools need to maintain their reputation by avoiding general announcements of “admission from the floor score” to ensure safety in enrollment, many universities announced admission criteria starting from the floor score of the Ministry of Education and Training such as the University of Law, University of Water Resources, Hanoi University of Industry, etc.
Meanwhile, many top schools announced that the starting threshold is 20.0 - 25.0 points, but some schools are cautious due to concerns about fake candidates.
Hanoi Medical University, a school with the highest admission scores for many years, is more cautious this year - it has not officially announced the admission scores. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice Principal of this school, only gave advice: Only those with more than 20 points should submit their HSXT; for the general practitioner system, the score should be from 25 points or more. Mr. Tu said that even this year's "top" school does not dare to predict anything because of the fear of fake candidates.
To avoid risks for both sides, candidates and the school, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu suggested: Hanoi Medical University has 9 majors with high demand and job opportunities that candidates with not very high scores can apply for, including preventive medicine doctor, bachelor of nursing, bachelor of advanced nursing program, traditional medicine doctor, bachelor of nutrition; bachelor of medical technology, bachelor of public health, bachelor of refraction (first enrollment)... These are majors with entrance scores 5 - 7 points lower than the major of general practitioner training.
Foreign Trade University, a top school, has an average annual admission score of 24.0 points for block A and 22 points for block D. This year, it also set an admission score of 20 - 22 points, depending on the training major.
What to note when submitting application?
The information that schools publish every 3 days is for reference only, as the data will fluctuate continuously. To increase the chances of admission, candidates need to base on their scores and the admission scores of schools in recent years to choose the right school and major. To increase the chances of admission in the same school, candidates should also choose a few majors to register for.
In principle, when wanting to withdraw an application, candidates must come to the school in person to withdraw or authorize in writing a relative to withdraw on their behalf.
The Ministry of Education and Training does not limit the number of times an application can be withdrawn; however, candidates must note that the time from registration to withdrawal is determined by the schools. Candidates need to research carefully to ensure that after withdrawing their application, they still have time to apply to another school.
“Currently, career orientation for candidates is not clear. Candidates still choose their career based on friends, parents or social preferences, even though society may not have a need for it in 4-5 years. Therefore, before having a strategic human resource agency, candidates need to soberly consider the human resource needs of the whole country, of the locality, etc. to have a wise career choice” - Mr. Pham Minh Hung, Vice Principal of Vinh University advised candidates.
Many universities in Ho Chi Minh City consider admission based on floor scores.
Right after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the threshold to ensure the quality of university and college admissions in 2015, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City also announced the floor score. Accordingly, most schools set the floor score at 15 points for university and 12 points for college.
Mr. Tran Van Thien, Principal of Van Hien University, said: the admission score for HSXT students is 15 points. Accordingly, this year, the school will enroll 2,000 university students and 500 college students with two admission methods, based on the results of the 2015 national high school exam and based on high school academic results.
The Admissions Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology said that the admission score for NV1 to the school based on the results of the National High School Exam is 15 points, applied to 10 subject groups for admission, 30 majors at the university level and 12 points for 23 college majors of the school.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance... also announced the admission score of 15 points for university and 12 points for college.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education said that the school decided that the minimum score for candidates to apply for admission to the school is 18 points.
