Bodies of mother and three children with tied hands found in Phu Ninh lake

Previously, at around 8:30 p.m. on March 24, Phu Ninh District Police received a report that Ms. Dieu (27 years old), a kindergarten teacher in Tam Lanh Commune, and her two children were unusually absent from home. Many people searched for her but could not find her.

At 9:30 p.m., police discovered the motorbike and jacket lying on the shore of Phu Ninh Lake in the area bordering Duong Lam village (Tam Dan commune) and Phuoc Bac village (Tam Lanh commune).

"We used a motorboat with flashlights to search everywhere on Phu Ninh Lake and discovered a parachute hammock floating on the water, about 60 meters from the motorbike and jacket on the shore. The rescue team then pulled up the bodies of Ms. Dieu and her three children with their hands tied together with parachute hammock ropes," said the head of Phu Ninh District Police.

Speaking to VnExpress on the morning of March 25, Mr. Nguyen Phi Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Ninh District, said that Ms. Dieu's husband was in rehab at the Hiep Duc District Rehabilitation Center but had just been allowed by the center to return home to take care of his father's funeral. When he was about to return to the center, this tragic incident happened.

"The district police have started an investigation. It is likely that due to family problems, Ms. Dieu did something negative to her two children, one girl and one boy," Mr. Thanh said, adding that this morning, the district leaders, the Department of Education, and the teachers of Tam Lanh Kindergarten came to share the grief and support the family in arranging the funeral for their colleague's mother and three children.

Phu Ninh Lake is an artificial reservoir located about 7 km west of Tam Ky city, in Nui Thanh and Phu Ninh districts (Quang Nam). This is a large-scale irrigation project.
