Hoang Mai Town: Planting souvenir trees at Truong Bon historical relic site

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 27, a delegation of the City Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and representatives of departments and branches of Hoang Mai town came to offer incense, flowers and plant souvenir trees at Truong Bon historical relic site, My Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province.

Nearly 50 years ago, this place was a fierce battlefield because Truong Bon was the traffic artery supporting human and material resources from the great rear of the North to the great front line of the South. The US imperialists dropped nearly 20,000 bombs of all kinds and tens of thousands of missiles on this place, destroying dozens of villages along the route, hundreds of cars and hundreds of artillery pieces of the army. At the Truong Bon fire coordinates, there were 1,240 cadres, soldiers, Youth Volunteers and workers in the transport sector bravely fighting day and night against the enemy's bombs and bullets with the spirit and determination of "Living by clinging to the bridge, clinging to the road - dying steadfastly and bravely".

The war has ended, the pain and loss have gradually subsided, but today's and future generations will never forget the sacrifices of the heroic martyrs.

Truong Bon National Historical Relic Site has been built today to become a historical symbol of Nghe An Youth Volunteers, a place where the souls of heroic martyrs who bravely fought and heroically sacrificed to protect the Truong Bon traffic artery converge.

Before the heroic martyrs' souls in the sacred and emotional moment, the leaders of Hoang Mai town respectfully offered incense, flowers and observed a minute of silence to remember and express their respect, admiration and deep gratitude to the young men and women in their twenties who fell for the peace of the Fatherland.

The delegation promised to try harder to build Hoang Mai town to develop more and more, contributing to the cause of building an increasingly prosperous country worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations.

After the incense offering ceremony, the delegation of Hoang Mai Town presented 8 trees planted at the relic site to express gratitude, contributing to making Truong Bon more and more spacious, worthy of the contributions and sacrifices of the heroic martyrs.
