How harmful is lack of sleep?
Trading sleep for work and other routines is not an ideal option because of the harmful effects of sleep deprivation on health.
Our bodies and brains require adequate rest to recover. Sacrificing sleep to get work done and other routines done is not ideal. Here are some of the health effects of sleep deprivation:

Poor sleep can cause early death
A study shows that people who sleep less have a higher risk of death than those who sleep more. Poor sleep puts you at risk of early-stage heart disease.
Decreased libido
Men with sleep apnea have lower testosterone levels, which can harm their sex lives. So make sure you get at least eight hours of sleep every night.
Leading to an accident
Driving while sleep deprived is considered as dangerous as driving while drunk. Lack of sleep can cause you to lose concentration, making you more likely to cause an accident for yourself and others.
Causes depression
Often, people who suffer from anxiety and depression are those who are forced to work at hours when they should be resting. If a person sleeps little, they are more likely to suffer from depression.
Effects on skin
Dark circles and puffy skin are symptoms of sleep deprivation. To avoid this, get a full 8 hours of sleep. If not, try to get at least 6 hours of sleep every night.
Weight gain
No matter how much you eat or how much you exercise, you find yourself gaining weight. A potential cause could be lack of sleep. Studies show that lack of sleep can cause weight gain.
