PV:Could you share some information about the characteristics, current situation, and typical activities that affirm the role of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization of Nghe An province in the present period?

Comrade Tran Linh:The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization is a Vietnamese children's organization founded by President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam, and is under the responsibility of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization was established on May 15, 1941, in Na Ma village, Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province.
The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization was established to unite children into a single organization from the central to local levels under the guidance and supervision of the Youth Union, aiming to accompany and educate them in the revolutionary spirit and consider them a revolutionary force. The Organization has always been a core organization in children's movements, a force for education both inside and outside schools, and a reserve force for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Currently, Nghe An province has nearly 500,000 members of the Youth Union and Children's Union participating in activities at 887 units throughout the province. In recent years, the care and education of children and young people have always been a priority for all levels of the Youth Union and Children's Union in the province, organized in a way that better meets the legitimate needs of the children, contributing to creating conditions for their comprehensive training and development.

Continuing its 83-year history of building, developing, and maturing, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team of Nghe An province has always actively trained and strived tirelessly in the work of caring for, nurturing, and educating children and young people.

Over the past period, the Provincial Youth Union Council has launched many campaigns and movements such as "For our beloved younger generation"; "Vietnamese children compete to do well in implementing the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho"; "Lighting up the dreams of Vietnamese children"... Through these, meaningful programs such as "Warm Tet for children", "Mid-Autumn Festival", "Children's Day of Fun and Health - Advancing towards the Youth Union", "Commending ethnic minority youth" have been organized. At the same time, playgrounds and competitions have been organized to improve children's social skills, and attention has been paid to building many facilities and playgrounds for this group.

In particular, the movement "Children of Nghe An Province compete to follow the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho" has motivated and encouraged teenagers and children to strive in their studies, training, and participation in social activities to become good children, good students, good team members, and good grandchildren of Uncle Ho. At the same time, it contributes to improving the quality of activities and building a stronger Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization.

PV:The "Nghe An Children's Movement to Emulate the Five Teachings of Uncle Ho" in our province has been highly praised by the Central Youth Union Council. Could you please share more specific details about this movement?

Comrade Tran Linh:The movement "Children of Nghe An Province compete to follow the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho" has been widely disseminated by the Youth Union at all levels in the province. Each school's Youth Union has found its own creative ways to create an environment for children to learn, train, and develop.
In the school library, it's not uncommon to see students passing around and eagerly reading books about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, such as "Everyday Stories of Uncle Ho," "Uncle Ho's Childhood," and "The Green Lotus Bud"... It's clear that for these students, the image of Uncle Ho is sacred and noble. From this, the determination to follow Uncle Ho's teachings becomes even more evident in their hearts.

Many examples of good deeds and acts of kindness, demonstrating the love and compassion of young students, have moved many people. These include the actions of three students from Hung-Thai-Nghia Secondary School (Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district) – Le Dinh Thai Bao (8B), Le Dinh Hieu (8C), and Phan Van Khai (8C) – who found lost items and returned them to their owners. Another example is the rescue of a 2-year-old girl from drowning by Nguyen Thi Bao Thi and Nguyen Thi Phuong Tram from Nghi Thuan Secondary School, Nghi Loc district.

Or consider the beautiful act of Lo Khanh Ngoc from Chau Cuong Primary School, Quy Hop district, carrying her friend to class; or the group of friends including Cao Khanh Linh from Ben Thuy Primary School, Vinh city, growing their hair long to donate to cancer patients…
Many children from Nghe An have been commended in competitions such as the Provincial and National Excellent Team Leader Festival; many individuals have received the title of "Hero of a Thousand Good Deeds" at various levels.

Implementing the five teachings of Uncle Ho has helped the children develop comprehensively in all aspects; striving to become good children, good students, good Young Pioneers, and good grandchildren of Uncle Ho. Over the past period, 887 Young Pioneer teams organized nearly 800 activities to show gratitude, visit Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families of martyrs, and care for martyrs' cemeteries in the area.

The students have also worked together on hundreds of youth projects, notably in Dien Chau district, where the youth teams collected 100.2 tons of scrap materials, earning over 315.8 million VND from the sale of the scrap.

From small-scale planned funding, Dien Chau district has implemented 120 youth projects and initiatives worth over 250 million VND, and donated 400 gifts worth 50 million VND to disadvantaged students.

For example, in Hung Nguyen district, from the small-scale planning fund, they have built two small-scale houses and raised over 45 million VND to donate to disadvantaged students through various forms such as scholarships, "Red Scarf" chickens, and bicycles.

It can be affirmed that, although Uncle Ho has passed away, he remains very close and familiar to the students of Nghe An province. This immense love and respect is concretized through practical and meaningful actions, thereby spreading many shining examples of learning and self-improvement among children.

PV:Nghe An is a province with a relatively large mountainous area, so what meaningful support has the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization provided to children in remote areas and ethnic minority communities?

Comrade Tran Linh:Nghe An province has over 400 youth teams across 11 mountainous districts and towns. Over the past period, together with the Party committees, government, and political and social organizations, the youth teams at all levels in the province have implemented many programs and activities to support and share with the children in these areas. In particular, the exchange and twinning activities between youth teams in the lowlands and those in the highlands, remote areas, and border and island regions have been actively promoted.
Every year, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Children's Council organize ceremonies to honor and meet with hundreds of outstanding ethnic minority children and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The "Connecting Knowledge" program – providing computers and equipping computer labs for children in mountainous areas – is always a priority. Last year, more than 70 computers were provided to equip computer labs for students in Con Cuong, Ky Son, and Que Phong districts, worth hundreds of millions of VND.

At the same time, the Youth Union, Youth Association, and Children's Union at all levels coordinated with central and local units to organize the "Spring on the Border - A Warm Tet for the Military and the People" program; donating thousands of gifts to ethnic minority people and children in difficult circumstances, and starting the construction of nearly 10 "Houses of Happiness" and "Sports and Exercise Grounds for Children" projects to support young people.
In particular, 100% of the youth teams provide support to 10-15 disadvantaged students in their units, through various forms of assistance such as awarding scholarships, providing livestock and animals to the students' families, etc.

These activities have made a significant contribution to gradually supporting disadvantaged children in mountainous areas and ethnic minority regions of Nghe An province over the past period.

PV:How should the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization improve and enhance its effectiveness to meet the educational and training needs of children in the new era?

Comrade Tran Linh:Currently, children nationwide, and especially those in Nghe An province, are undergoing significant changes. They are being given better opportunities to study in a more conducive environment, allowing them to develop and hone their strengths.
However, there are also many things to consider. First, with the development of information and communication technology, children can easily access a vast amount of diverse and abundant information. This significantly impacts their perceptions, ways of thinking, and behavior. Within families, relationships between members may sometimes lack true closeness.

While in cities, parents face the hustle and bustle of work, in rural and mountainous areas, an increasing number of children lack the affection and attention of their parents who have to work far away in industrial zones and factories in other provinces. Many children also face stress and anxiety in their studies, and not a few suffer from depression due to pressure from society, family, and school bullying.

In the face of the achievements and challenges of the reform period, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization is not standing idly by but has taken, is taking, and will continue to take concrete actions. The first is to build a strong support network, including families, schools, and youth organizations, to ensure that children receive effective support and companionship. The organization also focuses on activities to attract and gather children outside of school, using a flexible approach while still maintaining the political and educational values ​​of the organization.
In addition, the process of recruiting cadres to lead the Youth Union must ensure they possess the necessary qualities and capabilities to effectively perform their duties and educate the young members according to the principles and objectives of the Youth Union organization.

Finally, it is necessary to effectively implement the Youth Union's movements to help children train, strive, and create an environment and motivation for them to be worthy of being Uncle Ho's good children, excellently fulfilling Uncle Ho's five teachings, and closely linked to the current cause of national construction and development. These are important prerequisites for Nghe An's children to develop comprehensively in the new situation.
