Before being hospitalized due to symptoms of respiratory failure, liver and kidney damage, etc., the patient drank milk tea and did not eat any other food.

This morning (January 18), a 14-year-old female patient from Khanh Hoa province was just given emergency treatment at Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City in a state of respiratory failure, liver and kidney damage, cyanosis, and intubation. The condition was diagnosed as possibly caused by drinking milk tea.

Patient suspected of infection due to milk tea.

According to medical history, 1 week ago, the patient had fever, abdominal pain, severe vomiting, diarrhea more than 10 times, the nature of the stool could not be determined, so he was transferred to Cam An Nam General Clinic and then to Cam Lam District Hospital, Khanh Hoa province.

After a few days of treatment, the patient's vomiting and fever subsided but he still had abdominal pain and was transferred to the Provincial General Hospital.

Here, seeing that the patient had signs of liver failure and kidney damage, the doctor placed an endotracheal tube and performed continuous blood filtration.

However, when the symptoms did not improve, the hospital transferred the patient to Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. On the way, the patient's body turned purple.

According to Specialist Doctor I Dinh Tan Phuong, Head of the Emergency Department of Children's Hospital 1, after examination, the patient was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, septic shock, dangerous infection from the digestive tract, and damage to multiple organs including the liver and kidneys. Immediately after that, the doctors suctioned mucus, put the patient on a ventilator, and used antibiotics and sedatives to control the body to facilitate mechanical ventilation.

Currently, the baby has a cough reflex when stimulated, pink lips, and is not in cardiogenic shock. Test results show that the baby has septic shock, gastrointestinal sepsis, and acute kidney failure.

The cause is bacteria entering the bloodstream from the digestive tract. In the case of a child, it is not possible to conclude which food the child has been infected with bacteria from, but testing and epidemiological investigation are required.

According to doctors, there are many cases of hospitalization due to gastrointestinal sepsis. In some cases, the cause cannot be found, some are due to ecoli infection or dirty hands and feet...

During the discussion, the patient's mother said that before being hospitalized due to the above symptoms, the patient drank milk tea and did not eat any other food./.
