Prime Minister directs Ministry of Public Security to speed up investigation into production and trade of fake drugs
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to speed up the investigation, soon draw conclusions and strictly handle violators in the case of manufacturing and trading fake drugs and health protection foods.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed an official dispatch from the Prime Minister requesting a prompt investigation and early conclusion of the case of manufacturing and trading fake drugs and health protection foods.
The dispatch said that recently, the authorities discovered cases of manufacturing and trading counterfeit medicines and health protection foods in Thanh Hoa province and some other localities.
It is noteworthy that the production and trade of these counterfeit goods has lasted for many years, especially dozens of fake medicines and health protection foods have been produced and put into circulation on the market.
Medicines and health supplements are goods that directly affect people's health and lives. Therefore, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Health to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and handle the above case.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies and localities have stepped up measures to control and prevent counterfeit drugs and fake health foods circulating on the market.
In particular, strengthening inspection and examination of pharmaceutical and health food business establishments, especially in key areas.
In addition, the Prime Minister requested to focus on combating smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor-quality goods in the group of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, medicinal herbs and traditional medicine.
The Prime Minister also noted the need to strengthen measures to manage drug wholesale and retail establishments, in conjunction with clarifying the origin of products. Drug suppliers are only allowed to buy and sell drugs that have been granted a circulation registration certificate, have invoices, documents, and origin in accordance with regulations; sell drugs according to prescriptions; and strictly handle violations.
