PV:Can you tell us your thoughts as a representative of the armed forces running for the 14th National Assembly?

Comrade Nguyen Sy Hoi:According to the structure of the National Election Council, among the 500 deputies of the 14th National Assembly, 15 are military deputies. Military Region 4, including 6 provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue, is only composed of 1 National Assembly deputy. Therefore, being nominated to run for the 14th National Assembly is an extremely great honor for me, not only representing the army but also representing the will and aspirations of voters and people of the 6 provinces; along with that, it also places a very great responsibility on me.

PV:As a delegate of the 13th National Assembly, what concerns do you have regarding the process of participating in the activities of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province and the working program of the National Assembly delegates?

Comrade Nguyen Sy Hoi:During my participation in activities and as a delegate of the 13th National Assembly, through contact activities and listening to voters' opinions, I saw a number of issues that voters and people repeatedly raised. These were inadequacies and difficulties in implementing social policies and policies for people with meritorious services. The State's attention to policies for agriculture, rural areas, and farmers has not really created a strong driving force for development.

Training and job placement for young people and students after graduating from universities and colleges. The spirit, service attitude, and even the indifference of a number of officials and civil servants in performing public duties and professional tasks are causing a lot of dissatisfaction among the people...

If elected by voters as a delegate to the 14th National Assembly, I will continue to pursue the above issues together with the political system at all levels to classify and analyze the causes of the frustrations and conflicts; from there, find solutions, clearly identify which level directs and resolves them in order to create more positive changes.

PV:Dear comrade! If elected as a National Assembly delegate, what will your action program focus on?

Comrade Nguyen Sy Hoi:First of all, with the responsibility of a National Assembly delegate, who is also a senior military officer, it is necessary to regularly grasp the situation, be close to and listen to the opinions of voters and people to advise the Party, National Assembly and State on comprehensive decisions on socio-economics, foreign affairs and national defense and security.

Second, together with Party committees, authorities and political systems at all levels, actively propagate and disseminate the Party's guidelines and policies and State laws; and decide on the results of National Assembly sessions.

Third, invest time in research and improve the quality of your activities at the National Assembly's parliament, in order to participate in law-making, contribute to the resolutions and decisions of the National Assembly on socio-economic, foreign affairs, national defense and security policies. At the same time, promote the spirit of struggle, actively participate in contributing in the hall, in groups, in delegations; report to the National Assembly the recommendations, thoughts, aspirations, and proposals of voters and people. Along with that, strengthen supervision and work with competent agencies to resolve specific problems and recommendations of voters within the province, district, and commune.

Fourth, one must be truly exemplary in abiding by the law, cultivating moral qualities, diligence, thrift, integrity, and uprightness; have a clear viewpoint, resolutely fight against manifestations of corruption, waste, opportunism, and indifference to the people; and be worthy of being a representative of the will and aspirations of voters and people.
