Previously, at 3:00 a.m. on September 23, 2012, after completing his shift to guard the unit, while handing over the task to his teammates, Lieutenant Dang Van Tuyen received news from a local resident that: At Lach Van estuary, a fishing boat was on its way into the estuary to take shelter from strong winds and waves. The boat lost control and was swept ashore by the waves, including a fisherman whose leg was seriously injured due to being stuck by the side of the boat and lying motionless. If not given timely first aid, his life could be in danger. After receiving the above information, Lieutenant Dang Van Tuyen reported the entire incident to the unit commander and promptly arrived at the scene of the fisherman's accident. Despite the dark night and the rain and wind, he and his teammates waded out to the scene to rescue the person. After re-examining the wound, he discovered that the victim had a broken leg. With his practical experience as a Border Guard Medical Officer, he provided first aid, initial resuscitation, and bandaged the victim's wound, and quickly took the victim to a higher-level hospital with another crew member. After completing the admission procedures for the victim, Lieutenant Dang Van Tuyen, on his way back, when he was near the unit, discovered a small black bag in front of him. After picking it up and checking, he discovered that it contained a new Apple IPHONE 4 (battery dead). Determining that this was a valuable phone that someone had lost, Lieutenant Dang Van Tuyen reported the discovery of the valuable phone to the unit's Command and requested to find the owner to return it. After posting the notice and broadcasting it on the local public radio, at 4:30 p.m. the same day, Father Nguyen Van Hieu - Parish Priest of Xuan Phong Parish came to the unit to report the loss of the phone. After the unit commander confirmed that the lost phone belonged to Father Nguyen Van Hieu, the unit handed over the phone in its original condition. Father Nguyen Van Hieu emotionally said: "This is a souvenir gift from a relative to me, during a business trip in Hanoi. If Mr. Tuyen had not picked it up, I would have lost a gift of great spiritual value and this is also a good impression of me towards the Border Guards."
The above actions of Lieutenant Dang Van Tuyen clearly demonstrated the good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the glorious tradition of the force and unit, and further strengthened the trust and love of the people in the stationed area.
