Young "welder" from Nghe An won Silver Prize at Asean Skills Competition

Dang Duy Tuan was born in 1993, both parents are farmers in Bac Son commune, Do Luong district. After graduating from Do Luong 2 high school, Tuan decided to go to vocational school to help his parents and younger sister who is still in school. After learning information from many sources, Tuan knew that the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technical Vocational College has many modern machines and vocational training equipment, so he applied to take the exam here. During 3 years of studying at the Welding Technology Faculty, Tuan always strived to train comprehensively in all aspects, achieved excellent student, had solid welding skills and was in the top of the class and faculty. In the 2013 vocational competition in Nghe An province on welding in 2 categories of 2g welding and 3g welding, Tuan won second prize.

In May 2014, selected by the school to compete in the national skills competition in Hanoi, Tuan won first prize in the national welding competition. That was the basis for the General Department of Vocational Training to select Tuan to join the team for the 10th ASEAN Skills Competition, which took place over 3 days from October 24 to 26 at the My Dinh National Convention Center. This ASEAN Skills Competition has 25 occupations, including 23 official occupations and 2 demonstration occupations. Vietnam had 51 contestants, of which 2 were in the welding profession. As a result, the Vietnamese team won first place overall with 15 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 7 Bronze Medals and 11 certificates of excellence; the contestant in the welding competition won 1 Silver Medal and 1 certificate of excellence. And, happily, the Silver prize in the welding profession belonged to Dang Duy Tuan, the only person from Nghe An to participate in this competition.

Through the discussion, Tuan said he was very grateful to the teachers at the Welding Technology Faculty and the Board of Directors of the Vietnam - Korea Vocational College of Technology for creating conditions for him to practice and strive. In addition, Tuan was also given the opportunity by the Director of the Korean VIKOTED Company - Mr. LEE/KAB SEUNG to undergo welding training for 3 months in Korea before this exam. Another great news for Tuan was that he was selected to compete in the World Skills Competition in Brazil in July 2015. To attend the World Skills Competition, Tuan will be invested by Vikoted Company to undergo vocational training for at least 9 months in Korea.

Always learning, being creative and passionate about his job is the secret to Dang Duy Tuan achieving the ASEAN 2014 Skill Award.
