Despite the Turkish government's apology and calls for an end to the widespread protests across the country over the past several days, on June 6, thousands of people gathered to protest for the seventh consecutive day, demanding Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's resignation.
The protests erupted again as Prime Minister Erdoga returned home from a four-day tour of North Africa.

Deputy Prime Minister Huseyin Celik has urged supporters of Mr Erdogan's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) not to go to the airport to welcome the Prime Minister to avoid escalating tensions.
CNN Turkish television reported that in the Black Sea port of Rize, a crowd of hundreds attacked a group of 25 young people holding an anti-government protest.
Police fired tear gas to disperse supporters of the ruling AKP party. Several injured protesters were taken to hospital.
Earlier, on the evening of June 5, police also used tear gas and water cannons to disperse a group of protesters at Kizilay Central Square in the capital Ankara.
Hundreds of protests have taken place continuously and spread across Turkey, stemming from the "too heavy-handed" police crackdown on peaceful environmental protesters, protesting against plans to destroy a park along Taksim Square to build a shopping mall.
This event was likened to the "last straw" that quickly turned the protests into the most intense wave of opposition to Mr. Erdoga's ruling AKP party since the party came to power in 2002.
According to statistics, two people have died and more than 4,000 people have been injured in protests over the past week in Turkey./.
