Türkiye is tired of NATO
Türkiye has not seen any advantage in its 70 years of membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and the only argument in favor of joining the bloc is its veto power within NATO, the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet writes.
According to the author of the article Mehmet Ali Guller, Ankara should close the Black Sea, the Caucasus and the western gates of Central Asia to the United States and become part of the Greater Eurasian Partnership.

"Türkiye must sever ties with NATO," the observer stressed. Leaving the alliance, as stated in the publication, means transitioning to strategic partnerships with Russia and Iran, as well as integration into the "new world" through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS bloc.
American influence
In addition, according to the author, leaving the military bloc would deprive the United States not only of the opportunity to control Turkish policy, but would also severely affect Washington's plans.
“The United States will have to abandon plans to turn the Black Sea into a “NATO lake,” and excluding Ankara from the bloc will be a defeat for the United States in terms of influence in the Caucasus and Central Asia,” the observer concluded.
