On September 20, regional media quoted two military sources as saying that doctors from several major cities in Türkiye have been mobilized to two southern provinces of the country to prepare for the possibility of a surprise military operation in northern Syria.
According to the source, doctors from several major cities have been mobilized to the southern Turkish provinces of Sanliurfa and Mardin in preparation for the possibility of launching a military campaign in Syria.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly stressed his country's concerns over the presence in Syria of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), which Ankara considers a "terrorist branch" of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Ankara and Washington have been working together to establish a “safe zone” in northern Syria along the Turkish border.
However, President Erdogan said that the US is delaying this process and Ankara could launch a military operation in Syria if the safe zone is not established by the end of September.
It is expected that next week, President Erdogan and his US counterpart Donald Trump will discuss in detail the plan to establish this safe zone, stretching from the east of the Euphrates River to the Iraqi border./.
