Türkiye Tayyip Erdogan threatens to sever diplomatic relations with Israel. |
Previously, a White House representative said that in the coming days the US will announce whether or not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The Palestinian side, as well as a number of countries in the Middle East, have stated that recognizing Jerusalem would aggravate the Arab-Israeli conflict and destabilize the situation in the region.
"Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims. Such a decision will be a heavy blow to all humanity. We will not let this go. Does America have no more problems? I warn America not to take further steps that will deepen the crisis in the region," Erdogan said.
He added that if the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital takes place, "within the next 5-10 days, the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will meet in Istanbul and launch a movement to the entire Muslim world."
