In addition to the graves containing human bones, the team also discovered septic tanks and house foundations, along with personal household items such as sewing needles, spoons, agate and earthenware dating back to the Byzantium period.
The large amount of seashells found in the septic tank is seen as an indication that the staple food of the natives of Istanbul during the Neolithic period was mainly seafood.
Experts also believe that sea shells were also used by the inhabitants of this time as absorbent tools.
They are now trying to discover the relationship between the Yenikapi and Pendik people during this ancient period./.
