Türkiye ready to shoot down planes violating airspace
On October 17, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu declared that Ankara will not hesitate to shoot down aircraft that violate its airspace.

The statement was made a day after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member country shot down a drone near the border with Syria.
Speaking at a rally of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the central Turkish city of Kayseri, Mr. Davutoglu stated: "Yesterday (October 16), we shot down a drone. If it was a manned aircraft, we would have taken the same action. For anyone who violates our borders, Turkey will have the necessary answer."
Earlier, an anonymous US official said on October 16 that Washington suspected the plane shot down by Türkiye on the same day was a Russian drone, but also cautiously noted that this was only preliminary information.
Ankara complained about Russian planes violating Turkish airspace along the border with Syria earlier this month./.
