After the failed coup attempt, the Turkish government conducted several investigations into the country's air force. |
The downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber in October 2015 and the deaths of 34 civilians in a Turkish airstrike in Uludere, Sırnak province, in December 2011 will be reinvestigated following the attempted military coup, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said on Tuesday.
Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced that two pilots who shot down the Russian Su-24 fighter jet had been arrested as part of the investigation into the coup. According to him, they could be members of the organization of the opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for the coup attempt.
"I think the incidents in Uludere and with the Russian plane will be reinvestigated," Minister Albayrak told TV Habertürk.
