The downing of a Russian Su-24 fighter jet in October 2015 and the deaths of 34 civilians in a Turkish airstrike in Uludere, Sırnak province, in December 2011 will be reinvestigated following the attempted military coup, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said on Tuesday.

Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced that two pilots who shot down the Russian Su-24 attack plane had been arrested as part of the investigation into the coup. According to him, they may have joined the organization of opposition Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for the coup attempt.

"I think the incidents in Uludere and with the Russian plane will be reinvestigated," Minister Albayrak told TV Habertürk.
