Türkiye challenges US in buying Russian weapons
Türkiye will choose Russian fighter jets if the United States removes it from the international F-35 program for purchasing Russia's S-400 air defense missile system, Defense News magazine writes, citing the government's procurement department.
“Russian fighters would be our best option, if the US allies do not act like allies and question Türkiye's participation in the Joint Strike Fighter program,” the source said.
Another defense source also confirmed that Ankara would look for alternatives if Washington refused to sell the F-35, but declined to comment on the alternatives, saying technological, economic and political issues needed to be discussed.
