Seasonal weather changes, pediatric patients increase dramatically
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of March 27 alone, Nghe An Children's Hospital received and treated 535 patients (as of 11am). Each child patient was accompanied by 1 to 2 adults. Therefore, the flow of people was quite large, the atmosphere was "bustling" right from the hospital gate.
According to Dr. Pham Van Dieu - Deputy Director of the Hospital, for many days now, the Hospital has been crowded, examining an average of 500 - 600 pediatric patients each day. In particular, yesterday (March 26) there were more than 800 cases admitted to the hospital (the highest ever). Due to the change of seasons, the number of patients has increased dramatically, the diseases that children often get at this time are viral fever, hand, foot and mouth disease... Departments such as Respiratory, Infectious, Neonatal, Resuscitation... are departments that are in a state of overload. Currently, hand, foot and mouth disease is warned with high risks, so many families with young children are always afraid, just seeing their child has a fever, they immediately take their child to the hospital because they suspect hand, foot and mouth disease.
Bustling" with medical examination and hospital admission procedures
The hospital placed more beds in the hallway to reduce the number of people sharing beds.
In fact, the cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in Nghe An are mild and are treated as outpatients. The severe virus strain has not been detected like in the southern provinces. The fact that parents are too panicked and worried, rushing to take their children to the hospital is also a reason for the increase in the number of people in the hospital.
Currently, in addition to mobilizing maximum human resources for medical examination and treatment, Nghe An Children's Hospital is actively implementing the policy of equipping more hospital beds to prevent overload and avoid the situation of children sleeping in pairs or threes.
