Weather on January 24: The North has the coldest temperature since the beginning of the season

According to the latest news from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on January 24, the entire North was immersed in a record cold spell since the beginning of the season.

On the afternoon of January 23, a very strong cold front affected the Central Central provinces, causing heavy rain in many places in the Northwest region, and rain in the North and Central Central coastal regions, with some places experiencing moderate rain. In the Gulf of Tonkin, there were strong northeast winds of level 8, gusting to level 10; rough seas.

It is forecasted that tonight cold air will continue to affect the coastal provinces of South Central Vietnam, then affect the South.

Due to the influence of cold air combined with high-altitude westerly winds, there will be rain and showers in the Northwest. The coastal provinces of the Central region will have rain, some places will have moderate to heavy rain. The Northeast wind inland is strong at level 3-4, coastal areas at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7.

Weather on January 24, record cold spell since the beginning of winter, temperature in the North dropped below 8oC, high mountainous areas such as Sapa, Mau Son had ice and snow.

In the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea off the Central and Southern provinces, the entire East Sea (including the two sea areas of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos) maintain strong northeast winds of level 6-8, gusting to level 9-10; rough seas. Waves are 3-5m high. Disaster risk level: level 1.

In the Northern and North Central provinces, widespread severe cold will continue from now until January 27. There is a high possibility of frost and snow in mountainous areas. Disaster risk level: level 1.
