Unified penalty for spreading false news
The Government has just issued Decree No. 65/2015/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of the decrees regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of state management related to the act of posting, broadcasting, providing, reporting, and announcing false information.
According to the Ministry of Justice, after reviewing the documents, there are a total of 9 decrees on penalties for acts of reporting false information, including penalties for press agencies. The Ministry of Justice has also reported to the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Justice to be the lead agency to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to research and develop a decree amending many decrees, trying to follow the simplified procedure.

Accordingly, Decree 65/2015/ND-CP was issued to avoid overlap in the application of regulations on administrative sanctions in state management fields related to acts of posting, broadcasting, providing, reporting, and publishing false information.
Specifically, the sanctioning of administrative violations against press agencies in publishing, broadcasting, providing, reporting, and publishing false information in the fields of statistics, atomic energy, price management, fees, charges, invoices, education, civil aviation, vocational training, hydrometeorology, surveying and mapping, and health, which were previously regulated in various decrees, is now uniformly applied according to Article 8 of Decree No. 159/2013/ND-CP dated November 12, 2013 of the Government regulating the sanctioning of administrative violations in press and publishing activities.
This Decree takes effect from October 1, 2015. Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of Government agencies, Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities, relevant organizations and individuals are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
