*On the morning of May 26, continuing the 5th Session Program, chaired by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue,The National Assembly held a plenary session at the Hall,discuss some contents with different opinions of the draft Law on Protection of Consumer Rights (amended).

Speaking at the discussion on the draft Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended), delegate Tran Nhat Minh, Nghe An delegation, commented on two contents related to dispute resolution between consumers and business organizations and individuals.

Pointing out the shortcomings of the current Law, the delegate of the Nghe An Delegation suggested that the drafting agency study and amend Clause 1, Article 54 related to the method of resolving disputes between consumers and business organizations and individuals in the draft Law on Consumer Rights Protection (amended) in a more specific, easy-to-understand and easy-to-apply direction. Specifically, the delegate suggested: “When a dispute occurs, consumers and business organizations and individuals can resolve it themselves through the following methods: negotiation and conciliation. In case they cannot resolve it themselves through negotiation and conciliation; or do not want to choose to resolve it by negotiation and conciliation, they can choose one of two methods: Arbitration or Court”.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested the Provincial People's Council committees to continue researching to have opinions, and at the same time emphasized the viewpoint and principles of selecting questioning content must be based on the proposals of the Provincial People's Council delegates and the practices that voters and public opinion are interested in, not on choosing the subjects of questioning.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also assigned the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial People's Council to preside over and coordinate with the committees to study documents of the National Assembly to develop criteria for selecting the content of questioning, supervision, survey, and explanation of the People's Council; avoid selecting the content of re-questioning and supervision based on emotions.

Regarding the supervision content of the Provincial People's Council in 2024, comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh also requested the Provincial People's Council committees to continue studying and proposing for the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee to agree before submitting to the Provincial People's Council at the session.
