Information that China proposed to build a wall to block THAAD is 'ridiculous'
(Baonghean.vn)- South Korea's JooAng Ilbo newspaper quoted a source close to the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that Beijing wants to build "a wall" near the installation site of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system to protect the country from being targeted by radar equipment.

According to the source, the proposal to build this wall in the west and northwest of the THAAD installation site in Seongju County, North Gyeongsang Province (South Korea) - is among Beijing's requests before the country decides to mend bilateral relations that were once strained over the deployment of the US THAAD in South Korea. However, both sides have denied this information.
In an interview with the Global Times (China), missile expert Yang Chengjun said that building a wall to block radar equipment from monitoring Chinese territory is an "entertaining" idea, because the THAAD system is easy to move when placed on a vehicle for launching, and the radar system can rotate.
This expert also said that even if Seoul allows the construction of a wall according to Beijing's idea, it is still doubtful whether Seoul will have the final say in this matter, because THAAD is operated by US forces in South Korea.
“Perhaps Beijing needs to discuss with Washington about building this wall…. However, I am very skeptical about the possibility of Beijing making such a (strange) request,” Mr. Yang said./.
