Ben Thuy 1 Bridge opened to traffic and groundbreaking of the overpass on National Highway 1A - old National Highway 8B

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 27, the Construction and Traffic Construction Corporation 4 (CENCO4) held a groundbreaking ceremony to build a flyover at the different-level intersection between National Highway 1A (km468 + 450) and the section connecting National Highway 8B (old) in Ha Tinh and opened the Ben Thuy 1 bridge repair project at km467 + 500.

These are projects using surplus capital from the investment project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A, section Nam Ben Thuy - Ha Tinh city bypass, implemented by CENCO4.

Cutting the traffic flow of Ben Thuy 1 bridge

Ben Thuy 1 Bridge was built and completed in 1990 using old technology with a steel truss structure. The project has been in use for 25 years and has degraded. With the permission of the Ministry of Transport to invest in repairing Ben Thuy 1 Bridge from the surplus capital of the Project to invest in upgrading and expanding National Highway 1A, section Nam Ben Thuy - Ha Tinh city bypass under the BOT form and assigned CENCO4 to carry out, after 3 months of repair, the project has been completed on schedule and ensures quality, technique, and is qualified for use. The opening of Ben Thuy 1 Bridge is of great significance in ensuring traffic safety, avoiding congestion at Ben Thuy intersection during the upcoming Lunar New Year, and at the same time increasing the life of the bridge built 25 years ago.

The intersection between National Highway 1A and the connecting section of National Highway 8B (old) currently has a very large traffic volume, frequent accidents, and is becoming a black spot in terms of traffic safety. Realizing the need to renovate and upgrade this intersection, CENCO4 has proposed and been approved by the Ministry of Transport for additional investment to synchronously complete the Ben Thuy Bridge South Project - Ha Tinh City bypass under the BOT form. The project is built in Xuan An town (Nghi Xuan district - Ha Tinh). The project includes an overpass in the direction of Ben Thuy 2 Bridge - National Highway 8B with a total length of 1km; designed according to design standards and national technical regulations on road signs. Design speed V=60km/h, level III plain road project, operating load HL93, withstand level 7 earthquake, underpass clearance H=4.75m, total cross-section width 29m, designed with 4 lanes.

On behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong attended the ceremony and highly appreciated the capacity of the Construction Corporation No. 4 through many important national projects that this unit has invested in and constructed in recent years, always ensuring quality and progress.

After the Ben Thuy Interchange Project is completed, it will reduce traffic congestion and accidents, and at the same time increase the exploitation capacity of the National Highway 1A Project, the Vinh City bypass section and the section from Ben Thuy Bridge South to Ha Tinh City bypass. This is also an important project in promoting economic, social, tourism and social security development of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.
