Below is the full text of the 2019 United Nations Vesak Day Congratulatory Letter from Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs of Vietnam Vu Chien Thang.

Dear:

- Distinguished guests representing the United Nations, international organizations, countries, and representatives of embassies in Vietnam;

- Venerable Sangha representatives of Buddhism in various countries and Buddhist sects around the world, together with Venerable Sangha members of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha;

- All of you attending the 2019 United Nations Vesak Festival.

The United Nations Day of Vesak is a cultural and religious festival, aiming to honor, promote and develop the moral values ​​and the spirit of good harmony of Buddha, organized on an international scale, demonstrating the determination and policy of the United Nations towards mass activities for a world of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

This is the third time the United Nations Vesak flag, a symbol of peace, friendship and cooperation, has flown over the beautiful country of Vietnam, rich in cultural traditions.

On behalf of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs of Vietnam and in my own name, I warmly welcome and congratulate you, the delegates - the faithful messengers of the Buddha - attending the 2019 United Nations Vesak Festival in Vietnam. I would like to send my best wishes, happiness and peace to all Buddhists around the world.

The 2019 United Nations Vesak Celebration hosted and chaired by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, with the support of the Vietnamese people and government, was solemnly and solemnly organized, vividly demonstrating the right to freedom of belief and religion in Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam is always a proactive, active and responsible member of the United Nations, while also showing the increasingly strong position of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the hearts of the nation and international Buddhist friends.
