Letter from the President to the Education sector on the occasion of the opening of the 2022-2023 school year

Dear teachers, administrators, education workers, parents, and beloved students!

In a letter sent on the first opening day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, September 5, 1945, beloved President Ho Chi Minh wrote:

“I imagined the bustling and jubilant scene of the first day of school everywhere. All the children were happy because after several months of absence from school, after so many unusual changes, they could see their teachers and friends again.”

Today, September 5, 2022, we feel special emotions again after an unusual period of time, when learning was frequently interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Teachers and students were able to attend the opening ceremony together at their beloved school, sharing determination, faith and hope for a new journey in learning.

"After the rain, the sun will shine" as Uncle Ho's poem implies, in the 2021-2022 school year, the quality of general and advanced general education continues to improve, recognized and highly appreciated by the international community. The quality of Vietnam's education has been raised 5 levels, reaching 59th place in the 2021 international rankings. The 2022 high school graduation exam was successfully organized. Education in mountainous, border, island and ethnic minority areas continues to receive strong attention. Many Vietnamese universities are present in prestigious international university rankings. In addition, the outstanding achievements that students have won in the Olympic competitions in 2022 have once again affirmed the mettle and ability to excel in learning and Vietnamese intelligence before international friends...

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I acknowledge and warmly commend the consensus, determination, efforts to overcome difficulties and the results that the Education sector has achieved in the past school year.

Dear comrades, teachers and students!

A new school year begins, the beginning of new hopes. I appreciate the significance of the theme chosen by the Education sector this year, which is “Solidarity, creativity, striving to successfully complete the tasks and goals of innovation, consolidate and improve the quality of education and training”. I request all managers, teachers and staff of the Education sector to make dedicated efforts, unite, be creative, overcome difficulties, perform well in their duties, promote a sense of responsibility for their profession, for their beloved students, for the great cause of educating people. I hope that parents will pay more attention to their children's education, set good examples, for the future of their children, for the glory of their family, clan, homeland and country. The whole society should join hands with the Education sector, create a civilized, orderly and exemplary society, form a good culture and social norms for children to learn and follow; Building a learning society, accessible to all children, including disadvantaged children. For students, promote the nation's tradition of studiousness, absorb the quintessence of human knowledge, have the aspiration to contribute and be self-reliant, contributing to building our country to be richer and more prosperous.

On the occasion of the opening of the 2022-2023 school year, I would like to send my best wishes for health, happiness, success and more achievements in the new school year to teachers, administrators, education workers and students.
