Attracting many businesses to clear goods
(Baonghean) - Among the border gates and openings on the road routes connecting Laos, Nam Can International Border Gate (Ky Son) has a large volume of people, vehicles and goods passing through. That helps the import-export turnover through this border gate increase rapidly every year.
Previously, due to the deterioration of National Highway 7A and customers having to do import and export procedures by manual declaration, the waiting time was quite long, so few businesses cleared customs through Nam Can International Border Gate. However, after National Highway 7A was upgraded, the technical infrastructure at the border gate was invested in and built and the electronic customs system was applied, so many businesses imported and exported goods through Nam Can International Border Gate...
This is demonstrated by the increasing number of enterprises exchanging goods through border gates: In 2011, only 26 enterprises participated in customs procedures and the number of vehicles and passengers entering and exiting the country was 12,653; by 2012, it had increased to 95 enterprises, in 2013, the number reached 104 enterprises participating in customs clearance procedures with 1,187 declarations and export turnover reaching nearly 75.6 million USD, state budget revenue of more than 108.8 billion VND.

Along with the investment in synchronous infrastructure construction and technical modernization, one of the driving forces attracting a large number of people, vehicles and goods through Nam Can International Border Gate is the upgrading of National Highway 7A. Currently, this important route has been upgraded and expanded, limiting "black spots" of traffic accidents or places where landslides often occur, helping businesses shorten the time of transporting goods.
This is an important factor attracting the attention of people, tourists, investors and especially businesses operating in the import-export sector of Vietnam - Laos. Mr. Cao Viet Dong - Head of Sales Department of Nghe An Petroleum Company said: "Although transporting goods by National Highway 7 to Laos is quite far, the authorities at Nam Can International Border Gate have made many innovations in their working style, so the company's re-exported petroleum products through here are increasingly large. From the beginning of 2015 until now, Nghe An Petroleum Company has re-exported to Laos through Nam Can International Border Gate nearly 7,000 m3 of petroleum and in the coming time will increase the volume of goods through this border gate".
Along with investing and upgrading the technical infrastructure system, Nam Can International Border Gate actively innovates working style, creating a friendly and cultural environment in immigration and import-export activities. Mr. Nguyen Trong Van - Head of Nam Can International Border Gate Customs Branch said: “The Branch always performs professional work well, ensures proper business procedures, facilitates import-export activities, and means of transport through the border gate. From the beginning of 2015 to now, the Branch has completed import-export procedures for 5,321 vehicles, completed customs procedures for 426 declarations with a total import-export value of nearly 34.3 million USD and collected over 43 billion VND for the state budget. In addition, the Branch has closely coordinated with functional forces to fight against smuggling and trade fraud, detected, arrested, and handled 2 drug trafficking cases including 5.5 grams of heroin and 5 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border”.
