Valedictorian of Foreign Trade University in 2012: Desire to become an entrepreneur
(Baonghean.vn) - With a score of 28 (Math 10, Literature 8.5 and English 9.5), valedictorian of Foreign Trade University Dang Quang Huy (born 1994, student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Vinh City) hopes to become a businessman in the future.
Sharing with PV on a late summer afternoon in the scorching heat of Vinh city, over a glass of iced tea for guests, Huy confided: “I didn’t think I would be valedictorian, because like many other students in this year’s university entrance exam, I only did fairly well. Becoming the new valedictorian is a gift I give to my parents and teachers who raised and taught me, and thanks to that, I have today. As for me, I chose this major (foreign economics - PV) because I want to test myself in a truly new environment. If I succeed in the future, I can become an international trade negotiator. Moreover, the environment at Foreign Trade University is very good and I am sure that after graduating, I will choose a more worthy job for myself,” Quang Huy shared.

Ms. Le Thi Nhung - The head teacher shared her joy with her favorite student when she learned that Huy was the valedictorian. She said: "For 3 years of studying, Huy has always been a good student, diligent in studying, studying all subjects, and making great efforts in studying... Along with studying, Huy is also a very emotional student, living in harmony, having fun with friends, and being loved by teachers. The day I received the news that Huy was the valedictorian, I was very happy and wished him to soon achieve even higher achievements in 4 years of university."
According to Ms. Nhung, Dang Quang Huy's case is very "unique", because right from the time he was admitted to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, he chose to follow block A. But because of his passion for English, when he entered grade 11, Huy asked to switch to block D to fulfill his dream.
Ms. Nhung confided: “At that time, I also confided in Huy a lot and worried that when he changed his block (from A to D - PV), he would encounter many difficulties. But Huy did everything, he studied all the subjects equally and was not inferior to his friends, even made much progress and I always believed in him. It was those tireless efforts to learn that have rewarded Huy's merit today.”
Huy was born in Vinh city, Huy's parents are both from Do Luong district - the studious land of Nghe An, right from the beginning of high school, Huy chose his own path. That simple dream became a reality when in the recent university entrance exam Huy scored 28 points, becoming the 2nd valedictorian of block D with high scores at Foreign Trade University.

Sharing the secret of studying, for Huy, it is very simple in studying, learning from friends and teachers, and studying at home is not much but must have a method. With 3 subjects Math, Literature, English, each teacher is different; after studying in class, you also have to study and re-study at home, but as for the learning method, each person finds their own method.
Huy said: "For Math, I usually divide it into sections at home, and spend the rest of my time reviewing the questions; besides, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted also has many mock exams and many good questions, so I also gain a lot of experience from those exams."
Regarding English, Huy shared: “I think the most important thing is new words. Therefore, each week I only learn 10 new words, then learn idioms and English grammar structures. The teachers at school also teach well and I realized that right at school. Through studying the sets of questions, I realized that the university entrance exam is mainly heavy on grammar, so I used some methods of listening to tapes from international stations, watching English movies without subtitles... Besides, many friends shared the questions, if there was anything difficult, I asked English majors from which I gained a lot of experience for myself in studying.”
As for Literature, my way of studying is also very simple, like mastering the work; as for the ideas in the essay, the thinking and arrangement of this topic can also be suitable for another topic.
When asked about his future dream, Huy said: “I want to become a successful businessman so that after graduating I can negotiate international trade”. “I am very grateful to the teachers at Phan Boi Chau school who have raised me over the years. Today’s achievement is the result of the tireless teaching of the teachers, I would like to thank all the teachers”, Huy was moved.
It is known that Huy's mother works at a construction materials company, his father is a freelancer; his younger brother Dang Huy Hoang is in 6th grade this year and passed the entrance exam to Dang Thai Mai Secondary School. Huy's final grade for the 12th grade last school year: Literature 8; Math: 9.2; English: 9.5; Huy was an excellent student for 2 years, and a good student in 11th grade.
