Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam 'hides' from Tet because he is afraid of getting fat

Among the relatives of the Vietnamese players present at Noi Bai on the afternoon of January 26 was Mr. Dang Van Long, uncle of goalkeeper Van Lam. "Lam is an independent person, he doesn't want anyone to pick him up and drop him off. I had to think a lot to come here," Van Lam's uncle said while showing respect for his nephew. Mr. Dang Van Long, who currently lives in Hanoi, is the younger brother of Van Lam's father.

"Last year Lam told me not to come home for Tet. He was afraid that if he ate banh chung, he would get fat and heavy and not be able to perform," said Mr. Van Long. "Lam also hired a Russian fitness trainer and paid for his plane ticket to Vietnam to instruct him on gym exercises and maintain the best physical condition."

Last year, Van Lam played for Hai Phong Club. It was the preparations since February 2018 that helped him maintain his high form, have excellent performances in V-League and win the trust of Coach Park Hang-seo.

Mr. Dang Van Long revealed that Van Lam likes fried spring rolls the most and has a hobby of singing. The Vietnamese-American goalkeeper has shown off this talent many times on his personal page.
