Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet unexpectedly leaves Song Lam Nghe An
Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet unexpectedly left Song Lam Nghe An after the 2024/2025 season and may move to The Cong Viettel on loan.
According to information from the leaders of Song Lam Nghe An Club, goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet will say goodbye to Song Nghe An and may move to The Cong Viettel Club from next season on loan.
Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet joined Song Lam Nghe An Football Academy in 2013, he was promoted to Team 1 as a reserve. However, thanks to his perseverance and efforts, Van Viet gradually won the trust of the coaching staff. On May 20, 2023, he made his V.League 1 debut in the Nghe - Tinh derby against Hong Linh Ha Tinh. After impressive performances, he surpassed Nguyen Van Hoang to become the main goalkeeper for the rest of the season.

The 2024/2025 season marks an emotional year for Song Lam Nghe An. Despite facing many difficulties throughout the season, the team showed a courageous fighting spirit. The 3-2 comeback victory over Hoang Anh Gia Lai at Vinh Stadium helped Song Lam Nghe An officially secure the right to stay in the V.League with 1 round left to play.
However, the Nghe An team could not end the season on a high note when they suffered a heavy defeat against Hanoi Police in the National Cup final on the evening of June 29 at Vinh Stadium, thereby winning the runner-up position.

Van Viet's departure opens up great opportunities for the next generation, especially young goalkeeper Cao Van Binh. Born in 2005, Van Binh is considered a promising face of Vietnamese football. Currently, Van Binh is joining the Vietnam U22 team to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
Previously, at the CFA Team China 2025 international friendly tournament, Van Binh was honored as the "Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament". With a height of 1m83, good reflexes and the ability to launch effective attacks, he is a reliable stopper in the goal.

Van Binh has been the main goalkeeper of the U19 and U20 Vietnam Youth Teams for the past 2 years. After returning from the 2023 AFC U20 Championship Finals, he was called up to the U22 Vietnam team to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. Not only possessing good technical skills, Van Binh also impressed with his confident playing style and composure in pressure situations.
With the orientation of rejuvenating the force and continuing to develop homegrown talents, Song Lam Nghe An is gradually rebuilding the squad for the future. The succession between generations such as Van Viet and Van Binh is clear evidence of the strong youth training tradition that the team has maintained over the years./.
