Parameters of temperature, humidity, and air quality will be recorded and analyzed by electronic devices, helping farmers and businesses take better care of crops and livestock.

This is a smart agricultural production project that FPT Information Technology Group and Fujitsu Electronics Group (Japan) have been testing since 2015 in our country.

The full name of this project is "Akisai Cloud - Comprehensive support service for agricultural management solutions on cloud computing technology", which has been successfully deployed by Fujitsu for many years in Japan in the rice, vegetable and fruit industries.

In 2013, Fujitsu's agricultural revenue was US$1 billion from all of the Group's agricultural service providers and implementation units, accounting for 2.1% of the Group's total revenue.

Mr. Mitsutoshi Hirono, Senior Vice President and Director of Innovation Business of Fujitsu, said that the two sides will set up a greenhouse to grow vegetables and fruits, using irrigation equipment and sensors to measure air quality, temperature and humidity. All this data will be stored and analyzed to provide optimal solutions for plant care, helping farmers and businesses increase labor productivity and reduce farming costs.

FPT and Fujitsu will select two greenhouse models in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to test the production of tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers and orchids. Initially, Fujitsu will bring all equipment from Japan to install the samples, then order Vietnamese enterprises to produce equipment for smart agricultural production.

In Japan, tomato productivity using this model reaches 50 tons/ha, 2.5 times higher than natural cultivation. The corresponding number of workers is 5 people, generating revenue of 500 million yen/year.

“What's special is that thanks to electronic data management, greenhouse owners can direct plant care anywhere in the world,” said Hirono.

Responding to the Government E-newspaper's question about the high cost of building a greenhouse, Mr. Hirono said that it is possible to use bamboo and nylon frames to minimize the cost, and Fujitsu also focuses on researching and applying materials suitable for the weather in Vietnam.

In addition to investing in production technology, Fujitsu also has experience in organizing production in a chain, bringing products to consumers. “When the program is operated well, it will limit the situation of good harvest but low prices,” said Mr. Fujitsu.

According to FPT Corporation Chairman Truong Gia Binh, FPT focuses on providing this technology service to investors who are small and medium enterprises investing in agriculture and farms to improve crop productivity and product quality. More importantly, FPT wants to accelerate the involvement of enterprises in the agricultural sector to further promote Vietnam's agricultural production level.

"For farmers, the estimated income will be three times higher than now," said Mr. Binh.
