The robber was a student.
(Baonghean) - Tan Ky District Police have just announced that after a period of struggle, Le Duc Thanh (born in 1989), residing in Yen Son Commune, Do Luong District, confessed to having committed 5 robberies, mainly of gold necklaces and bracelets. Le Duc Thanh is the only son in a well-educated family, both parents are civil servants, while Thanh is studying at a university in Vinh City.
With a tall, big, scholarly, handsome figure, no one expected that Thanh was the perpetrator of extremely reckless robbery of women's property. According to the declaration, only in the period from February to the day of his arrest, Thanh used a motorbike with fake license plates to successfully carry out 6 robberies of women carrying gold necklaces. Thanh's reckless and daring criminal behavior forced the Tan Ky District Police Department to establish a special task force to fight.
As usual, after cleaning the house for his parents and having breakfast, Thanh asked his family for permission to borrow study materials. However, when leaving the locality, Thanh installed a fake license plate and drove his motorbike to Tan Ky district to commit robberies. Here, when he discovered a woman riding a motorbike wearing a gold necklace around her neck, Thanh followed her, waiting for an opportunity to snatch it. When he reached a remote, deserted road, Thanh overtook her, snatched the necklace, and accelerated the motorbike like a bullet. Hearing the victim's shout, a working group of Tan Ky district police, lying in ambush about 50 meters away, immediately rushed out, chasing and arresting the robber. After more than 10 minutes of chasing, the Tan Ky District Police task force forced Thanh's motorbike to the side of the road, knocked him down, and put his hands in handcuffs. Checking Thanh, the police confiscated 2 gold-colored metal necklaces, 1 mobile phone, 10 USD, more than 100,000 VND in cash, 2 face masks, and some related documents. The investigation agency also made a record of confiscating 1 Novo brand motorbike (the vehicle used to commit the crime). The motorbike was worth 35 million VND, which Thanh's parents had saved up from their salary to buy for Thanh as a means of transportation for his studies, but unexpectedly, Thanh turned it into a vehicle to commit the crime. Seeing Thanh being escorted by the police to a special vehicle to be taken to Tan Ky Police Station, hundreds of local people felt pity. No one expected that Thanh would commit such a reckless crime.
