Captain Que Ngoc Hai is proud of Vietnam's fighting spirit against Iran.

Facing Iran in the second match of Group D of the 2019 Asian Cup, the team currently ranked number one in Asia on the FIFA rankings, coach Park Hang-seo's team suffered a 0-2 defeat after a brace from striker Sardar Azmoun.

After the defeat, captain Que Ngoc Hai shared: "Iran is indeed a top team in Asia. They have participated in the World Cup and have shown their class at this year's Asian Cup."

"The first thing we thought about when entering this match was to play our best, first of all for the flag and for Vietnamese football fans. Even though we lost, I still feel proud of my teammates' fighting spirit today," the number 3 center back shared.

In the match against an opponent with superior physique and strength like Iran, many players in red shirts had to lie on the field in pain after many strong collisions. Que Ngoc Hai, the defensive stopper, had a very difficult match, he himself also suffered a forehead injury.

Sharing about the 90 minutes of struggling against Asia's number one team, he said: "I was a bit dizzy after the strong collision, but luckily I was still able to continue playing."

The Vietnamese team still has one final match in the group stage when they face Yemen. Here, the red team needs to win big against their opponent to have a chance to win a ticket to the next round of the continental arena.

When it was said that Yemen was the weakest team in Group D, Que Ngoc Hai was still cautious: "Many people underestimate Yemen and believe that the Vietnamese team has a great chance of winning, but I don't think so. Any opponent at the Asian Cup deserves respect."
