Tricks to block spam messages on Facebook
Facebook has become a breeding ground for spam, advertisements, and scams. With a few simple steps, you can prevent these spam messages.
Previously, Facebook limited only messages from friends in the user's friend list on this social network to be displayed in the main Inbox box, but the situation has now changed, spam messages not only appear in the "Other" section but also spread to the main message box.
With the "friends of friends" spreading mechanism, victims do not need to be friends with the spam account to still receive dozens of unwanted messages. In addition, Facebook also automatically includes the recipient's name in the message content to increase reliability.
In addition to service messages from mobile operators, Facebook users receive daily advertising messages from many other unwanted sources such as promotional messages, phone SIM card sales, real estate, cosmetics, and fortune-telling applications.
These spam messages accounts are usually fake accounts of advertisers, or hacked accounts. These accounts will be the place for software to automatically send messages to other users.
So, if you are looking for a way to avoid receiving such spam messages, you can do the following setting
First, click on the upside-down triangle icon and select Settings - "Settings" in your Facebook account, then select Privacy - "Privacy".
In the "Who can contact me?" area, click on "Whose messages do I want filtered into my inbox?", then select Edit and click on "Strict Filtering".

Only friends can send messages to your Inbox. |
Now, only people in your friends list can send you messages, and messages from strangers will be moved to the Other section instead of automatically moving strange messages to the Other section like before.
The downside of this trick is that it only filters messages from strangers into your Inbox.
Therefore, if your friend's Facebook account is hacked, this function cannot filter it. In addition, users may also miss some important messages from people they have not connected with before.
Note, to keep your Facebook account away from hackers and all kinds of viruses and malware that lead to spamming of friends' messages, users should pay attention to the following issues:
- Do not click on links of unknown origin or those that are intended to attract views or arouse curiosity on Facebook.
- Be wary of requests to log in with a password, download files to continue watching videos/content, or watch in high quality on websites that Facebook redirects you to.
- Do not share personal information with unfamiliar accounts online, it could be a scam.
- Do not participate or follow instructions from unreasonable gift giving events (shoes, couple shirts, Facebook shirts...) on this social network. These are often fake events created by bad guys to hack user tokens, thereby taking control of the victim's account.
