Deputy Minister of Education and Training visited and worked in Nghe An
On March 1 and 2, 2011, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia visited and worked in Nghe An to inspect the implementation of the Project on Universal Preschool Education for 5-year-old children in the period 2010-2015. Accompanying the Deputy Minister were representatives of the Department of Preschool Education, the Department of Organization and Personnel, the Department of School Facilities and Equipment, and Children's Toys.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An reported on the implementation of Decision No. 239/QD-TTg dated February 9, 2010 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on Universal Preschool Education for 5-year-old children in the period 2010-2015. Accordingly, in the 2010-2011 school year, Nghe An had 507 preschools with 23,525 children (reaching a mobilization rate of 21.16%) and 116,251 kindergarten children (reaching a mobilization rate of 86.49%); 5-year-old kindergartens alone had 1,894 classes with 46,780 children (reaching a mobilization rate of 99.7%).
As of September 2010, 165 kindergartens in Nghe An have been recognized as National Standard Schools.
The People's Council of Nghe An province also issued a Resolution on the implementation of the Project on Universalizing Preschool Education for 5-year-old children in the 2010-2015 period in the province; the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision approving the Project on Universalizing Preschool Education for 5-year-old children in Nghe An in the 2010-2015 period.
Nghe An is determined to strive and mobilize all resources for preschool education to achieve universal preschool education standards for 5-year-old children by the end of 2012 according to the Ministry's regulations. However, the most difficult thing at present is still the criteria for facilities, so we request the Ministry of Education and Training to pay attention and support.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia acknowledged Nghe An's efforts in implementing Decision No. 239/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.
Through the reality in the two districts of Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong, he also affirmed that the difficulty of Nghe An in implementing the Project of Universalizing Preschool Education for 5-year-old children is the material facilities of the schools. Nghe An commits to achieving the standard of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children in 2012; all sectors and levels in Nghe An actively participate. The Ministry of Education and Training will provide support.
The Ministry will include Nghe An in the list of provinces that the Ministry will focus on directing to complete the Project's objectives early. The Nghe An Department of Education and Training will consult with the sectors and the Provincial People's Committee to have a high consensus on the policy of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children; create financial conditions to implement related programs and projects, aiming to soon achieve the standard of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children by the end of 2012.
