Deputy Minister of Transport: Do not stop oversized and overweight vehicles
Investors of some hydropower projects said they could not transport equipment and materials due to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport on oversized, overweight, and overloaded goods. Regarding this issue, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong said: After the Minister of Transport met and conducted specific inspections, up to this moment, no vehicle has been stopped for transporting electrical equipment for hydropower plants as well as thermal power plants.

“However, there is also a related issue that according to regulations, all oversized and overloaded vehicles that are licensed must be inspected by the road management unit there before being transported to check the condition of the roads and bridges. If the roads and bridges can handle it, that’s fine, but if the bridges are weak, the transport unit itself must coordinate with the management unit to strengthen the roads and bridges,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Truong.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong, Vietnam Electricity Group has recently worked with the Ministry of Transport, all units that need to be strengthened have been strengthened by the Ministry of Transport. Currently, there are no oversized or overloaded vehicles that have been stopped. "However, the Ministry of Transport is currently very strict with overloaded vehicles. For vehicles that do not meet the axle load, meaning they exceed the permitted axle load, the Ministry will resolutely force the truck bed to be lowered, as well as not inspecting overloaded vehicles to ensure the current road and bridge load is maintained" - Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong said.
