Deputy Minister of Transport inspects construction progress of Vinh Airport project
(Baonghean.vn) - Continuing the working program in Nghe An, on the morning of November 28, a working delegation of the Ministry of Transport led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong inspected the construction progress of the new terminal at Vinh Airport.
Accompanying the delegation, on the provincial leadership side, were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The Passenger Terminal Project - Vinh Airport is part of the Vinh Airport master plan for the period 2015 and orientation to 2025 approved by the Ministry of Transport in Decision 06/QD-BGTVT dated January 3, 2006; the content of adjusting a number of construction items in the Vinh Airport master plan has been approved by the Ministry of Transport.
The terminal is designed to serve domestic flights, with 02 elevations including a floor line. The calculation standard is level C according to IATA's passenger service standard classification, with a total terminal floor area of 11,706m2. The calculation capacity is 2 million passengers/year; the actual operating capacity is 3-4 million passengers/year; the waiting room is arranged with 4 gates for 4 peak hour flights with the actual number of peak hour passengers up to 1,500; 2 baggage conveyors are arranged to ensure the reception of 4 peak hour flights. The total investment is 500 billion VND, from the Development Investment Fund of Vietnam Airports Corporation.

The project started on April 26, 2013 and is expected to be completed before January 15, 2015 to be put into operation before the Lunar New Year as directed by the Ministry of Transport. The work volume has so far been completed at about 90% of the contract value. Contractors are carrying out the final finishing work and installing equipment to prepare for testing and operation. The current progress is estimated to be about 1 month shorter than the original. The work volume is guaranteed according to the approved design documents, ensuring labor safety and environmental sanitation.

After inspecting the site, the Deputy Minister worked with the provincial leaders. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong highly appreciated the efforts of the project management board and contractors in speeding up the progress, serving the people's travel well during the upcoming Lunar New Year. In the coming time, the construction unit is requested to continue to speed up the progress, striving to complete the terminal in December 2014, and test run and put it into operation in January 2015. Some items such as toll stations and security fences are currently stuck because the people who own land in this area have not agreed, it is requested to quickly clear the land on the basis of ensuring the rights and resettlement arrangements for the people. Timely arrange for planting trees, creating a beautiful landscape for Vinh Airport...; proactively work with Vietnam Airlines Corporation to complete licensing procedures, ensuring sufficient conditions to put the new terminal into operation. Along with that, make a list of recommendations to have a plan to reward individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in project implementation...
