Lao Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare visits and works in Nghe An

(Baonghean) -Within the framework of his visit and work in Vietnam, this morning, July 1, Comrade Bounkhong Lasukan - Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Lao People's Democratic Republic had a working session at the Social Insurance of Nghe An province.

Also attending were members of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Social Security Agency delegation. On the side of Vietnam Social Security, there was comrade Le Bach Hong, Deputy Minister - General Director of Vietnam Social Security, comrade Duong Xuan Trieu, Head of the Vietnam Social Security International Cooperation Department.

At the meeting, delegates were introduced to Vietnam Social Security, its formation and development process, organizational system, functions and tasks; regimes, coverage, participants and contribution levels as well as development orientation of Vietnam Social Security in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of the Lao People's Democratic Republic thanked the warm welcome of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as well as Nghe An province for the delegation. He also congratulated the achievements of the Party, Government and Vietnam Social Security. At the meeting, he briefly reported on the implementation of social security policies and social insurance activities in Laos in recent times. The Lao Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare was established in 2001. Up to now, 14% of the Lao population participates in social insurance. By 2015, there will be about 6.9 million people participating in social insurance. Currently, Laos is focusing on building the Social Insurance Law, the Health Insurance Budget Law, and consolidating the social insurance management and operation system from the central to local levels. However, social insurance work in the Lao People's Democratic Republic is facing many challenges, developing slowly and unsustainably.

Therefore, he hoped that through this working session, the delegates would share experiences in the field of social insurance so that the social insurance sectors of both countries could develop sustainably. From there, it would contribute to strengthening close cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Le Bach Hong - Deputy Minister, General Director of Vietnam Social Security affirmed: The issue of ensuring social security in recent years has received special attention from the Party and Government of the two countries. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Laos also regularly organize study tours to exchange experiences, discuss implementation solutions to further develop social security work of both countries. He hopes that in the coming time, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Laos will have meetings to exchange and learn experiences, in order to better fulfill the social security tasks assigned by the Party and Government of the two countries.

On this occasion, comrade Le Bach Hong - Deputy Minister, General Director of Vietnam Social Security presented souvenirs from Vietnam Social Security to the Social Security Working Group of Lao People's Democratic Republic.
